Do the Maori have a term for this body of knowledge?
It is not just the Maori who applied logic and reason to the problems of their lives. We've lost a great deal of learning because people didn't understand that.
In a traditional sense, mātauranga Māori refers to the knowledge, comprehension or understanding of everything visible or invisible that exists within the universe.
Apparently the word mātauranga now means education but in the past meant accumulated knowledge. So you get:
